LAVENDER (lavendula angustifolia)

Relaxing & soothing. Provides relief from headaches, nervous tension & insomnia and invokes a feeling of well-being.

LEMON BALM (melissa officinalis)

A favorite digestive remedy and sedative. It is refreshing and restorative and may produce a good mood. Can be effective for anxiety, depression and tension headaches. Also effective in controlling viral infections. Makes for a pleasant tasting Herb Tea.

LEMON VERBENA (aloysia triphylla)

Intensely aromatic Herb used as a digestive aid and sedative in much the same way as Lemon Balm (though the two plants are not related). Lemon Verbena also reduces spasms & lowers fever.

LICORICE



LINDEN (tilia cordata)



Combats high blood pressure, relaxes spasms, calms anxiety and can be helpful for digestive upsets and feverish illnesses. The flowers are used medicinally only when they first open, as they develop narcotic properties as they age. Linden is a popular after-dinner ‘Tisane’ in Europe.

LION'S TAIL (leonotis leonurus)



Commonly called ‘Wild Dagga’ (Dagga meaning Marijuana in south Africa), the dried resinous tops and leaves of this colorful plant are smoked in much the same way as Cannabis to produce a euphoric effect. Used medicinally to treat headaches, epilepsy, high blood pressure, bronchial and stomach problems.

MARSHMALLOW (althaea officinalis)

A sweet and soothing remedy used to soften tissues, heal ulcers & reduce inflammation of the digestive tract. May control bacterial infections, irritating coughs, asthma & bronchitis.

MEADOWSWEET (filipendula ulmaria)



A healing Herbal remedy for digestive complaints & headaches. Reduces inflammation & joint pain, heals ulcers and is most helpful for heartburn, hyperacidity & gastritis. Known as ‘Herbal Aspirin’, Meadowsweet yields salicylic acid and strong extracts of the plant are used to treat arthritis and rheumatism, without the negative side-effects of synthetic aspirin. Pleasant tasting as a Tea.

MISTLETOE (viscum album)

Used medicinally to treat high blood pressure and arteriosclerosis, the famous Mistletoe is an effective sedative remedy for nervous tension and panic attacks that slows down the heart rate. It also demonstrates anti-cancer activity, however like many plants used for serious conditions, it is of a poisonous nature and is considered by some to be toxic. Not recommended for home experimentation in cases of diagnosed heart conditions. Use with caution.

MOTHERWORT (leonurus cardiaca)

Used as a heart tonic & sedative. Motherwort can help ease palpitations, lower blood pressure and prevent blood clots. A calming sedative which can be helpful for menstrual disorders & period pain. Calms the nerves and exhibits anti-bacterial effects.

Siberian MOTHERWORT (leonurus sibiricus)



A nerve tonic with actions similar to those of the common Motherwort, but with more pronounced psychoactive effects.
